So I was walking over to Wawa just moments ago when I smelled something… strange. It wasn’t unpleasant, I can tell you that much, but it was displaced. Here’s an illustration so you can gather a sense of scale:

On the way to Wawa I smelled it, but passed it off as weird and fleeting. On the way back from Wawa, however, I purposely made it a point to cross the street earlier to see if the smell remained… and it certainly did! By now I’m sure many of you are wondering what the smell could’ve been, and I say to you it was: ORIGINAL SCENT WINDEX!
It wasn’t just a whiff or a hint of Windex, it was as if I had a glass eye and someone was quite literally washing it with Windex whilst I strolled along. I stopped for a moment at the corner of Glendale and Erie to take it in and look for a possible source. I stood close to a parked car windshield, windows to nearby apartments, even the window to my neighborhood Spanish cellular telephone dealer. Nothing. It was as if the scent had a mind of its own and just decided to hang in the air there for a while. I must’ve looked a little crazy going around sniffing things, but then a woman of about 30 came walking down the street and I waited for her to pass “the zone”, as I dubbed it. I KNOW I saw her smelling something and then she turned to look at me and I just smiled and shrugged. For a moment I pondered hanging around a bit longer and waiting for other people to walk by, but figured that would officially deem me a lunatic. That’s the end of my crazy tale, you may go back about your day…
Seriously, I just got finished doing my laundry and found $6 (in dollars and change). It’s not much, but it will probably help me eat a hearty, toasted ham and cheese hoagie from Wawa tonight… mmmmmm.
I’m done with US Airways. I’ve spent like 10 hours commuting back and forth to the airport to get these stupid little follow-up interviews, none of which clarify if I’m any closer to getting the job. Do I have to meet the whole fucking company before I get hired? Well, it doesn’t matter now because I’m looking towards greener pastures. I’m now posting two resumes to Craigslist and updating my Monster.com profile despite having 0% success with Monster. I’m also going to set up a PhillyJobs.com profile and hopefully that will help me acquire something lively and local. I’m getting by just fine with the freelance work right now, but it’s just a pain in the ass when things slow down to nearly a crawl. I demand consistency! I’m hoping I could hop on a design team or something that has to do with journalism, but I’d settle for your run-of-the-mill office position. Ahh, the rote and routine of life. If I may quote my friend Rich: “Work is Cancer.”
On a lighter side note, I just downloaded the new EP by HORSE The Band called “Pizza”. It’s five songs, all of which are about… wait for it… Pizza! It’s extremely good and hilarious to boot. The last track is a cover of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme song, while the others are all originals. Apparently for this EP they got rid of their old drummer and replaced him with some 15 or 16 year old prodigy. Whatever the case may be, they sound much more cohesive than before. I have to see these guys live soon, before it’s too late. Anyone game?

So I was pleasantly surprised this evening when I stopped by Wawa for my favorite beverage, Lemonade Iced Tea, and found that they had actually reduced the price back down to $1.50 (from $1.59). Prior to today, it was awkward and ridiculous trying to remember to bring a dollar, two quarters, and a dime for my half gallon of delight. What was even worse was paying with two dollars and receiving a quarter, a dime, a nickel, and a penny as change. The universe seems a bit more balanced now, there’s a bit of an extra spring in my step as well. I’d like to take this moment to thank the Woods Family (current CEO’s name: Dick) for being such a great friend to me and everyone in the tri-state area for the past 104 years. From the bottom of my stomach, thanks.

The job hunt continues. US Airways is jerking me around a bit, it feels. I’ve had three, count ‘em three, follow-up interviews, none of which (after the first) seemed terribly important to me. I had a drug test today, which I will pass, and then God knows how many more interviews I’ll have until they actually decide to hire me. I believe tonight I will post my resume (resumes, actually, I have one for each area of my expertise) on Craigs List and see if I get any responses tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, I’ll be heading up to dad’s office to visit and ask for many various financial favors. He’s never been really involved in my life, and I’m not saying that I can be bought, but I think if he were to help me with some of my main issues (ie: financial aid for school), that would be a step in the right direction for us.
With a bit of luck, this weekend will have some positive outcomes…
So little to say and so much time… Here goes something….
My name is Andrew to everyone who knows me and nothing to the people who don’t. I rarely feel inclined to write about myself and this small text blurb is no exception. I’m a film maker, of sorts. A designer, of sorts. A musician, of sorts. A photographer, of sorts. An armada of etceteras march behind these four generals.
The point I’m trying to make is that I enjoy art in all of it’s forms, and try my best to creatively express myself in every medium I take a liking towards. As always, things like life get in the way of being a non-stop idea factory, but that life is something that I’m thoroughly enjoying at the moment.
It consists of my beautiful girlfriend who I am very much in love with, a job that pays me well to do work that I would otherwise be doing for free, and a family and friends that I wouldn’t trade the world for. It’s safe to assume that I’m walking on air/over water/atop mountain peaks (pick one… hell, pick all three).
