Well, it’s been quite a while since I updated and although I had every intention to do this earlier, now seems like an opportune moment to discuss the events of my 21st birthday as well as the Atlantic City trip that followed…
It all started when I woke up… at 2pm. Yes, I habitually sleep incredibly late and shirk all responsibility on my birthday. It’s the day I was born, so I figure “Why not?” Everybody and their mother gets off for Jesus’ birthday (aka Christmas), and he wasn’t even born on December 25th. Right there, we’ve all displeased JC by breaking one of the 10-or-so commandments by lying about HIS birthday. Anyhow, I lounged around all day, occasionally paging through some books for school while playing video games and listening to music. I was doing so much, that I was really doing nothing at all. Then Marc came over… with 30 Coronas. He and I downed a few of those and then he offered to take me to Pat’s Pub for a shot and some darts. I obliged and off we went. When we arrived, I was immediately bought two shots of Jack Daniels and four mugs of Yuengling. They all went down with relatively no resistence. Played some darts, shot the shit, and then started back home.
I felt pretty nice at that point.
Arrived home, then started back with the Coronas again. To after another 3 (bringing the total Corona count to about 10), I switched things up and drank a Rum and Coke. We (Denise, Marc, and I) listened to music, talked, watched some television, and laughed a lot. It was a hell of a good time. Mom got home around 8:30pm and invited Aunt Mary Ellen and Grandma Fenton over for the good ol’ birthday song. At that point I was pretty much out of my head, but still keeping my composure. I sang along to the birthday song and had a bit of cake (if I had eaten much more, I very well could have tossed my cookies). Rachelle came by after she was finished class around 9:30-ish and stayed for a bit. It was unfortunate, but I wasn’t in any kind of state where I could actually communicate with her, so the conversation was replaced with a series of questions and my responses were of the nod-type.
Went to bed shortly after, but not before drinking many glasses of water. Didn’t wake up until 2pm the next day. Missed audio class, but hell, it was fun.
The following Saturday, Rachelle, Jon, Denise, Marc, and I hit Atlantic City… hard. We ended up heading out around 7pm and arrived shortly after 8pm (my Fast tells me to break the law). I picked the swankest casino in the city… The Borgata. Oh man, it was nice. We started off with a fully-comped buffet that, for all five of us, would have cost $150. Luckily, Marc’s cousin hooked us up and we ate for free (we were winners already!). After eating, I hit the casino floor with the bit of cash I actually had and played some slots because the all the tables had $25 minimums (youch!). I was down for a bit, then I won about $60, then I lost it all. It was a hell of a fun time, though. We cut our losses around 2:30am, but Rach and I didn’t feel much like heading back home, so we found a very decent hotel in Absecon Heights (with a jacuzzi, rawr) and stayed the night. Much fun was had.
The next morning we grabbed some breakfast and headed back into Atlantic City because the lady wanted to take some pictures for class. She snapped a few really excellent looking pics and then we rolled out. Got back to Philly around 5pm and spent the remainder of the day relaxing. It was one hell of a good birthday week.
Thank you Rachelle, Denise, Marc, Jon, Mom, G. Mom, and everyone who wished me well on my special day.
“We don’t live to last forever.”
So little to say and so much time… Here goes something….
My name is Andrew to everyone who knows me and nothing to the people who don’t. I rarely feel inclined to write about myself and this small text blurb is no exception. I’m a film maker, of sorts. A designer, of sorts. A musician, of sorts. A photographer, of sorts. An armada of etceteras march behind these four generals.
The point I’m trying to make is that I enjoy art in all of it’s forms, and try my best to creatively express myself in every medium I take a liking towards. As always, things like life get in the way of being a non-stop idea factory, but that life is something that I’m thoroughly enjoying at the moment.
It consists of my beautiful girlfriend who I am very much in love with, a job that pays me well to do work that I would otherwise be doing for free, and a family and friends that I wouldn’t trade the world for. It’s safe to assume that I’m walking on air/over water/atop mountain peaks (pick one… hell, pick all three).
